Hi, My name is Tracy-Anne and I am the owner of Kanya.
This is my story……
Kanya started off life as The Frock Shop over 10 years ago in the High Street, Wellington, Somerset. We were a dress agency/wedding outfit specialist as I was a wedding co-coordinator in a previous life. So helping Mothers of the Bride or Groom came naturally. After time the shop grew and changed and needed a new more casual identity to match our change of brands.
I visit family in Thailand every January and love the style out there. Kanya means “woman with youth” (its a female girls name)and as so many of our customers and staff are youthful “Kanya” was reborn.
I run the shop with my stepmother Val and mother Hazel both energetic “youthful” ladies along with Caroline our Assistant Manager who is a fab professional photographer who helps run our Facebook page. We also have a team of wonderful stylish older ladies … I think I am the youngest at 57 years.
We have a sister shop Bamboo in Minehead, Somerset (in its 14th year), both shops are open to visit and we will always do our best to help you with your requirements or just let you mooch & browse….. both shops are crammed full of goodies. We stock a mixture of well and lesser known brands from the UK and overseas as well as our own label Kanya Clothing direct from Italy and Thailand.
Latest to join ‘the family firm’ is my lovely daughter in law Carla who is a great model. Carla will also be helping to sort our Instagram account as I am such a technophobe!
